Default Working in all browsers.... - 08-17-2004 , 11:02 PM

Is there a setting to where no matter the resolution, the webpage will fit right in all browsers and if not, which setting is standard?

Thanks!

This has arguably nothing to do with the browser used, but rather, the
user's monitor size and screen resolution. People with large monitors tend
to have high resolutions, and that's where the difference comes into play.
Personally, I still tend to aim for something that fits in the 800x600
standard (which is actually less than 800 pixels by 600 pixels when you
leave room for browser toolbars, address bar, status bar, etc.), but many
people aim higher.

I don't know if there's any site *guaranteed* to fit in all browsers,
but this one has a good shot:

Have a read here: resolution does not equal browser window size.
http://pattysite.com/window_sizes1.cfm

Then follow this tutorial on how to build a 'flexible' page
http://www.dwfaq.com/tutorials/Tables/flexible_tables.asp

Ah, yes. You're right! I'm so deeply set in the groove of my standard
answer, I forget sometimes to account for the points at pattysite. Thanks
for the reminder!

don't ever cater your design around the minority of your visitors as a general rule of thumb. stretched tables or otherwise. design for the people that use the site. 8x6 is always the safe route
