Default Layers disappear when inserting HTML - 09-11-2007 , 12:19 AM

I hope there is a simple solution to this. I am trying to use layers for a
simple webpage and when I insert Fireworks HTML into a layer, all of my layers
disappear and become layout cells on my page. Has anyone seen this before?

It's hard to say without looking at your page code, but you are making a few
common mistakes. First, using layers for page layout is usually a bad idea.

Next, Fireworks HTML should not be used for a website. It creates html that is
fragile and will break under a variety of circumstances. Finally, layout
tables/cells should always be avoided. These create pages that are overly
complex, and have all sorts of rendering and maintenance issues.

You might want to post a url so we can look at the site, but there may be no
quick solution. The real solution is to learn page layout techniques and not
rely on graphics apps to generate html, or use DW features that should never
have been included in the product.
