Window Size Disabled?

Many thanks to Alan Ames for the quick response to my previous question.
It's probably already obvious that I'm a newbie. In fact I'm going
through the Macromedia Press "Training from the Source" book (ISBN
02017999294) and it's actually excellent for beginners.

Anyway, here's my next question...

The status bar of the document window has a Window Size in the bottom
right corner tool that's supposed to allow you to view a page in
different monitor resolutions or even edit custom resolutions. Is there
some particular reason why all the default selections on this context
menu would be grayed out?

When the web page window is 'full size' the window size menu is functional, but
when you have the tabbed windows (tabs at the bottom) window size is grayed out.
I had a small issue when i made the windows size 1024x768 ( which is the
resolution of my monitor) things kinda got out of hand. I had to change my
monitor res to 1280x whatever to see the whole thing.

Yes, because the document window is maximized. If you "restore" the
document window, then you cna select those values.
