If I understand correctly,
all of the subnavs are listed in your template, and the correct one is
selected
based on the parm variable setting in the child page. If you can point me
to a
good reference, it would be much appreciated.
Bingo.

The template is here - http://ent-sys.com/Templates/page.dwt

You can edit it in DW to see exactly how I have done this.

Here's another one for you -
http://www.raphaelarchitects.com/Templates/page.dwt (it's a bit more ... umm
.... cluttered - and don't worry about the js error)

You can get some ideas here - http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com

Can you tell me more (especially about the method your are using) or
point me
to a good resource that describes this method. It sound like it might
work for
me. I looked at the source from one of your pages and noticed that you
have a
"sectionnav" parameter which I assume is controlling your subnavigation,
but I
couldn't tell how. I also see the sectionnav div. If I understand
correctly,
all of the subnavs are listed in your template, and the correct one is
selected
based on the parm variable setting in the child page. If you can point me
to a
good reference, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ron

Murray... Thanks for the the link to your template! That really helped. I
like it. It looks to be very versatile and simple to maintain.

It also appears that you mix both tables and css to format your template. Can
you comment on that? Do you have some guiding principles in that regard? I
have been trying to design my site entirely with css... maybe not a good idea
for a relative newbie!

Thanks,
Ron

Ron:

I use whatever works best for my needs. At the time I was building that
site, I felt I needed tables because I wasn't quite confident of my CSS
capabilities yet.

Also see -

Later sites have been table-less....

My development style is pragmatic.
