Default Weird database problem - 09-06-2004 , 04:07 AM

I have a wierd database problem. I connect to the db (asp in dreaweaver MX) and
do 'test' and it's fine. When I try to make a recordset DW says that it cannot
retreive table data from this database.

In the database tab the tables button expands to 'none'

However, this is an exsisting site that I am trying to edit. If I create a
recordset manually then it works and the data appears. All the existing pages
work fine in DW when I activate 'live' data and also in the browser.

The problem may be due to me upgrading to XP (original was in Win98) and SP2.

Help!!!

Got the same problem.

No Tables shown, but works typing SQL manually. I'm working with XP SP2 too (DW MX).

Any bugfixes around?

I solved the problem:

- Deinstall SP2
- Install .net Framework 1.1 (don't use framework SDK 1.0a, deinstall it)
- Install MDAC 2.8

Then I will work. I lost one working day with this...

Whoa. Deinstall SP2? It took me hours to install it in the first place!
I'm going to try installing the MDAC component (dont need the .net as I'm
using ASP?) and see what happens.

If its an SP2 issue then surely someone will come up with a fix? Seems more
people are hitting the problem.

I had this problem way before SP2 and am just living with it hoping one day
someone will solve it.

I have tried re-installing MDAC and also re-installing the JET driver. Neither have worked.

There must be someone out there with the brains to help us out!

Latest MDAC (2.8)? What type of database?
If using DSN, try switching to an OLE DB connection.
Do you have both read and write priveleges to the database?

Never mind, this one. I guess installation of JET drivers indicates Access.

Yep, it's an access database on a DSN. Yes it was MDAC 2.8 (it refused to
install saying the OS had it already, XP Pro SP2).
I'm quite new to this database stuff and I have no idea what an OLE connection
is. Is it easy to set up?
