In your site root, if not existing create folder Connections/ in that right
click and select
NEW---text document
rename this file to-- AnythingyouwantOLE.udl
It will say the world will end if you change extension but just say Ok
Should change icon to pc infront of datasheet
double click the file
in the provider tab select jet 4.0 provider
in the connections tab select your db and fill in any password info
Thats done
you now need to open theOLE.udl file in word or similar and copy the custom
connection string
then your site needs to connect to database by custom connection string rather
than dsn
select new connection in dreamweaver, custom connection string and paste the
string you copied before....

Sounds alot but a doddle to do, supposed to be quicker than dsn conn aswell

See if it helps :-)

Well tried the OLE connection. Got a fine connection that worked with existing
recordsets.

Tried to create a new one and ......'unnable to retrieve tables' !!

I guess that reduces the places where the error might be. Perhaps the Jet
driver? It can't be anything to do with the DSN side of things at least.
Which part of the system accesses the tables ??

Are you sure you have read/write permissions on the MDF file?

Yes I'm sure.

I have just seen another thread about the same thing with loads of people having the same problem.

Looks like there is a prob with SP2 and a patch is needed.
Hope they hurry up.

So much for that theory. Are you using DW MX or 2004? The prob seems to be with MX.
