Way to check background patterns on the fly?

I was wondering if there was a way, in Dreamweaver or through any other application, that I could check to see how a background looks in a page without having to go through all the page setup steps. In other words, is there a way to quickly click on a background image and have it load in the IDE to see if it's what I want quickly?
