Default Which warnings matter - 07-09-2004 , 09:04 AM

I am new to using dreamweaver and my sites work in my broweser and i am very
aware that you need to make them work for other browsers in other areas and for
older models of browser as well as the importance of getting the file sizes
down etc. i still have a lot to learn.

my question is with netscape warnings, what is the current version being used
and what version do i have to go back to, or work out another veresion of the
site for using previous methods ?

Your help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Whatever version you feel is being used by a representative portion of your
site's visitors.

I tend to use a lot of CSS, and then just kill the CSS for netscape 4. That
gives people using Netscape 4 full access to the entire site, it just won't
look as pretty.

You can do that with a CSS hack:

DM integrated browser check is not really helpfull for a number of reasons.
Best thing to do is to download as many browsers as you can, and preview
your site in them.
you can easily download Nestcape 7, Opera, Safari, and FireFox. If you
use a Mac, you can download all these browsers too, plus you can
download different versions of IE (IE4, IE5...).
When your site looks the same in all these browsers you're fine.
