Default virtual include file problem - 04-04-2006 , 11:19 PM

I have two virtual include files in my page. I've uploaded my files to the
testing server and when I try to view the page, I'm getting an error saying
the include file was not found. The file is there. Not sure what the
problem is?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

The testing server is generally your own machine. You can run into problems
testing on machines that don't have a server edition of IIS as / does not
map to the same place as the websites sit.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for replying to my post.

Well, I semi solved the problem, but it creates another problem.

The production server is under the path: /www2004

on my testing server the path is: /compasspublic

so, my include file works on my testing server if I use:

<!--#include virtual="/compasspublic/functions.asp" -->

But, that won't work on the production server because that path wouldn't
exist. It would have to be:

<!--#include virtual="/www2004/functions.asp" -->

What I don't understand is the file on the production server has been
working perfectly with the include file path as follows:

<!--#include virtual="functions.asp" -->

So, I can't figure out why I can't get that to work on my testing server???

It would be a real headache to have to constantly go back and forth and
change the path for include file for my testing server and then production
server.

I would think there is a simple way to correct this?
