Default very very quick page test please - 05-26-2004 , 08:08 AM

I have pretty much sorted things out I hope: the giff roll-overs and fireworks
stuff have been all replaced with pure text and layers. Please check the
following link and let me know if everything looks ok.

http://www.waddo.net/Indexpages/index_short_stuff.html

Please compare with this other link, which is still using giffs etc and should
show how things are supposed to appear.

http://www.waddo.net/Indexpages/index_long_stuff.html

thanks very very much

Keith

Looks the same to me in Mac Safari/IE 5.2/Mozilla. You might consider
using some css to keep the size of the text consistant x-browser.

Looking good Keith,

Glad the show layer is working for you now :-)

A couple of suggestions :
1.Maybe have the text in the pop up a different colour - tends to be a
little too close to your points text.
2. Typo in point 1.. Oddd ??
3. Your punctuation is inconsistent - you maybe correcting this later, but
just in case......
eg: place names capitalised, some not,

The next thing you will need to do is clean up all those font tags and
replace using css :-)
Good job...

Default thanks and . . . - 05-26-2004 , 09:02 AM

nadia you are so kind helping me so much. thanks a lot.

I will try out your suggestion for different coloured text and see if I can
come up with something that looks nice. thanks for the idea.

there are plenty of typos and stuff since I was just trying to make the thing
work! I will correct it all later.

what is the advantage of removing the font tags for css? I am just using
Dreamweaver in "auto mode"! for exampe the foot note number in the pop up text
is smaller than the text itself and matches the size on the link. This is
pretty quick to do so I think using css will just give me problems. As you know
I am not an expert in this stuff!!!

Also, Osgood makes a suggestion that I do not quite unsderstand. are there
some problems with text sizes?

Thanks again 1 million times!
keith

keith:

It's best if you don't change subject lines as you did. It's very hard to
reconstruct the entire thread after the fact when you do.

By using css, rather than font tags, you can to some degree, control the
text renering x-browser.

At the moment in Mac Mozilla the text looks quite small, in IE5.2 the
text is quite large, whilst in Safari it look fairly normal (well normal
to me)

If you use css, a fixed px size, you can make the text look the same
x-browser.

Some people prefer to use a % size text, beacuse its supposed to be a
lot more 'accessible' which is of course rubbish as all modern browsers
will allow the user to enlarge the text size, if needs be

When using a percentage size the size takes its height from whatever the
user has their browser text set at. So for me (a normal person, with
normal eyesight) many of those peoples text is always too small in
Mozilla, largely because they havent a clue what they are doing.

You are welcome. Osgood I see has answered your question about the fonts
issue.

Good Luck.
