Unfortunately DW's design view is not at all standards compliant. It's
close, but not good enough.

That being said, always, always, preview your pages in a real browser.

Thanks for the responses.
Agreed, always test in target browsers.

But what if the client is a content editor...and is using DW Templates? The
text inside a collapsed box in DW becomes unselectable in Design View, so
Templates won't work (the editable region displays as collapsed).

The solution is to make sure to use the old way--clearer divs (instead of
overflow:hidden) on all the floats...something that is not made obvious within
any of the help avenues inside DW. I mean, CS3 has the very cool "Test Page"
functionality...you would think the developers could have flagged the
overflow:hidden display flaw as a problem there.

You should try the Beta of CS4 and see if the bug is still there and report
it. Otherwise it's unlikely anyone will fix it.
