Default Using Design View with PHP Doc - 09-01-2004 , 01:29 PM

Okay, I feel pretty stupid because I can't figure this out and can't find any
help info on this.

Here's the deal...I'm attempting to create my first PHP page using
Dreamweaver. I even bought the excellent book Dreamweaver MX 2004 with ASP,
coldfusion and PHP by Jeffrey Bardzell. Throughout the Dreamweaver help
messages and the book, it discusses entering/editing using the design view and
periodically switching to code view. My problem: If I open a .PHP doc (no
matter how I get there, whether I create it new, resave an existing HTML page,
rename a page, whatever!), neither the design or split view buttons or menu
options are active. The only way I can edit the doc is in code view.

Can somebody help me? Is there some setting somewhere that I have wrong?

Thanks!

go into dw preferences- File Types and Editors.

top section- has php somehow been listed in the file extensions to ONLY
open in Code View?

If this only happens in files that have code in them already (file-->new
works as normal) then, please give a link to an example page, and say if
this code uses any type of includes?

That did the trick...PHP was set to open in code view. Eliminated it and now it gives me the option to view in design view. Thanks!
