Default Uploading a new page - 06-05-2004 , 12:03 PM

I feel terrible about asking this as its probably the most simple task.

I am connected to my server, I can see the website files on the right under
the 'file' tab.

I have designed a new page to add to my website, I have managed to get it
listed with the rest of the files on the right, I save it, then go onto my
website, and type www.car-leasing-direct.co.uk/hints-&-tips.htm and its still
not uploaded onto my site.

Please could someone type an idiot guide for me to work from so I am able to
upload this file.

Please bear in mind my level of knowledge, I have only just learnt how to put
links into the pages.

Thanks in advance for you time and help

Paul

YOu have to define the remote site's connection details in DW, then connect
to the site and PUT the files.

Select the file in the Files listing then press the up arrow in that panel
to FTP the file to the site. You can verify that it is there by expanding
the site window to be full screen. The files on the right by default are
the local site and the remote site is on the left. If the file is listed on
the left after the FTP process, it's on the remote site and should come up
in the browser.

If it's still File Not Found, you didn't really send it. In that case, make
sure you have the proper remote site definition.

If anything I said didn't make sense, you probably want to take the
tutorials in the HELP menu to learn how the program works.

Hi -

Well, feel better that there are others out here who DO NOT know either. I
want to do the same with a little variation. I want to DOWNLOAD my site files
at http://ADAtech.org onto my local disk at
file:users:cary:sites:ADAtech then UPLOAD them to my .MAC server at;
http://homedisk.mac.com/cary_renault. Is any one able to assist?

If so please, do not hesitate to directly e-mail advice at
Cary.Renault (AT) comcast (DOT) net or view my site for further contact info. My old Alma
Mater is helping me with it.

I look forward to your professional and prompt help.

Cary

Same thing in reverse. Set up the Site Definition and select the top level
folder on the remote site then use the down or GET arrow to download them to
your computer.

Then you can change the remote info to match your other server and use the
PUT or up arrow to put them on the new server from the local copy.

It's all explained in the HELP that ships with the program.

Hi All -

My files are already on a remote server; http://ADAtech.org NOW, I want to
have them on my local harddisk THEN PUT them on another remote server;
http://homepage.mac.com/cary_renault

My question, is there a DOWNLOADing command in Dream Weaver MX 2004? In other
words, a complete opposite of the PUT command?

I look forward to your prompt professional answer. Please, DO NOT hesitate to
contact me.

Thank you,
Cary

GET.

suggestion?

If you want the same files mirrored to two different servers, suggest this
setup.

Make Two site definitions in dreamweaver.
They both should point to the same "local site folder"
set the remote info to the correct ftp for each one.

then, just change site definitions, depending on which ftp server you want
to upload to.
