Default Upgrade to Studio 8 from Dreamweaver 4 - 12-01-2005 , 04:40 PM

I have been using the Dreamweaver 4 - Fireworks 4 Studio for some time. This
week I upgraded to Studio 8. I have been reading in the messages on this forum
that the sites and extensions from previous versions should migrate over to the
new Studio 8 version. I did not uninstall Dreamweaver 4 prior to installing the
new version, but It appears in looking at my newly installed Dreamweaver 8 that
the migration did not happen.

Is there some other step that I missed or is Dreamweaver 4 too early of a
version to support the export / import of site definitions? Also, now that I
have the new version running I would like to get rid of version 4. After we
answer this question about using my old site definitions, is it OK to delete
Dreamweaver 4 without messing up the new version?

Thanks for any help.

Yes.

How many sites are there?

I have been maintaining 3 outside sites plus our Company Intranet using Dreamweaver 4. All of that info was stored in my site definitions.

Thanks.

So - 4 site definitions? How onerous would it be to recreate the
definitions? All you'd really need to know is the passwords (and not even
that if you use the advice here -
http://navbars.net/nav/navbar_resources.htm).

Obviously it wouldn't take me long to reenter my sites. I guess I was more
concerned if they were other things that might not have happened from my old
Dreamweaver 4 settings since the site definitions did not import to the new
version.

I will try the file from the link you provided and see if that works. At least
that might keep me from having to find my passwords. I will then uninstall DW
4.

Thanks again for your help.
