Default Updating library items - 11-01-2005 , 03:28 AM

I just updated a library item for a site. Uploading new pages shows the
update. Pages already up, I downloaded to my computer, and although when I
open them in DW they show the updated Library item, when I upload the pages
back they don't change. Do I have to delete and re-insert the library items?
There's got to be an easier way....
Thanks!
Cheers
JB

There is.

Forget Library items and use Server Side Includes instead.

Did you remember to upload the updated library folder?

No, no, no.

Library items have no function on the server. They are design time tools
only. This means that they only work inside of DW to insert the code in
your pages.

Thanks for the replies! I knew that uploading the Library won't do anything
(cept maybe archiving it). I'll look into server side includes........

Hmmm, new terrain for me. But SSI seems to be the ticket. I ran into one
issue if you would be so kind to point out the errors of my ways.
I linked a library item which had been updated with included a link to a
dated table of contents (December). However, when I upload the ssi page, the
link in the library item points to the August TOC! Obviously this isn't what
I want. What am I doing wrong?
Mucho gracias -
JB

PS: Will SSI mess with any other coding?

I dunno. Show me the contents of the include file, please.

Thanks Murray for looking at this. Below is a sample of the code for the
library item I'm trying to use. I have been successful dropping this into
it's own page and using SSI to access it, but I was hoping I could just use
this.

Hmm - maybe I'm not understanding you.

What does this mean?

Anyhow, this link is explicit -

<a href="/2005/Dec05/Dec05_TOC.htm">

There is no way it would change merely by putting it into a server-side
include.

Hmm, bad choice of words for me, sorry. Anyway, I agree, the <a
href="/2005/Dec05/Dec05_TOC.htm"> works fine. It's when I use <!--#include
virtual="/navtest.lbi" --> that the url in the library item changes. It is
set up to access a December table of contents, but it switches to a
different TOC........
Thanks!
