Default unwanted white space - 08-01-2004 , 01:38 PM

I work in layers and then convert to tables. I've noticed that sometimes the
converted tables have a very thin row of white space between them
(horizontally). The white space is not evident until I preview in browser or
after uploading. Help, anyone?

Never convert layers to tables. That's one way to avoid it. There is not a
good reason to ever do this....

Nevertheless, it would be impossible to diagnose your problem without seeing
your code.

Nancy,

Don't convert layers to tables unless you are confident and skilled
enough to deal with the aftermath. It's a seductive but pretty useless
feature that I hope MM will remove from next version of DW.

Probably, you have a table filled with cells containing non-breaking
spaces which look "&nbsp" if you look in code view. These are regarded
by browsers as "invisible characters" of default font size and will
therefore grab the space they need. Remove them.

You are also probably the proud owner of lots of colspan and rowspan
tags. These little devils will also cause problems. You might get some
help from the "nested tables" link in my sig.

But to pinpoint the problem, we need to see the page. Can you post a URL?
