UNIX File Permissions/Ownership

I'm running Apache (through a nologin account) on a Solaris system. File
permissions/ownership/groups are very important for the server to work properly.

I use Dreamweaver by editing the document directly on the server through SMB.
When I save a file in Dreamweaver, it overwrites the permissions and
ownership/groups of the file everytime.

This doesn't happen with other applications such as Notepad and TextPad(which
I'm forced to use now if I don't want to fix the permissions everytime).

Is there any way to change this behavior in Dreamweaver?
