Default Under Construction - 11-17-2004 , 03:10 PM

Hello online Dreamweaver gurus, I am fairly new to DWMX2004 and would like to
post an 'under construction' page for viewing by customers. Do I use
index.html for this purpose? If so, then when I'm working on the actual index
page, and want my client to see what the site looks like as I work, how do the
customers still see the 'under construction' page? Hope this isn't considered
a really dumb question... but I can't find it in help, or in my manual. Thanks
a lot, Jen Newbie

Hi yea,
I usually have my index page as the under construction and have another page
called index2 for my client to see and enter the site i.e when I give the
client the address I would give them http://www.yourdomain.com/index2.htm,
then when all is how the client wants it i just save the index2.html as
index.html

regards

your customers can only see what's on the server. index.html, or index.htm
should be ok as the name for the main page. check with your host in any case.
once you have done a bit more of the web you can upload it, and your customers
will see your improvements. perhaps a way to tell them your site is not finish
yet is to display a transparent 'under costruction' image, so the background of
the image does not prevent them to see the rest of the page. I hope this help.

That's normally how I do it too.
