unable to find site root URL DW and C2

"Dreamweaver could not find a page at the specified site root URL" is the
message I have when selecting Contribute and clicking on the Administer
website button in the Site Definition in DW. Local info is J:\ and Remote info
is I:/ on a local network.
Site root URL is http://internet/tra/, but that changes after I click on the
Administer website button to http://intranet.www.example.com/tra/ where
www.example.com is our public internet address.

We are using DW MX 2004 and Contribute version 2 (both Windows).

Any ideas? We just bought 25 Contribute licences and I need to configure the
keys...
