Default trying, trying, problems with 'get' - 11-05-2005 , 06:04 AM

I have recreated my site on a new computer with the upgraded DW 8
I push 'get' and DW spent hours getting, but it didn't get everything. It
didn't download the template folder with files or any of the files with images,
not to mention randomly missing files in every category, overlooking
categories, etc.
As this went through the process, DW would download files smoothly and rapidly
and then lose connection to the server and have to reconnect. This happened
over and over. I called the host (Earthlink) who felt it might be a problem
with the ISP. But DW reconnected over and over, just didn't grab all the files.
Question: can I do 'get' for the missing files? Will it organize properly if
I do this piecemeal? Or is there a better way to do this?
Thanks

Diana

Do you have passive FTP enabled for the Remote site definition?

Yes, I do.
It is really bizarre. I told DW to get the whole site. DW asked if I wanted
the whole thing, then downloaded, skipping entire huge chunks - for exsample
all the image files.
I'm doing them one by one now, a tedious process, and the server just keeps
conking out. DW reconnects, but, zowie does that take time. And the site is
big.
But that doesn't quite explain why DW skipped sections. Unless it got
confused. How is that possible?
Thanks for answering. I've been at this for a while with a break in between
to get over frustration.

Oh - it's http://www.inmamskitchen.com
You may recognize as you taught me how to do this on DW 4 a while back. 4 was
better!

I don't know. Ordinarily it would not be.

inmamaskitchen? And amazingly enough, I do remember.

If you want to send me your connection information offline, I'll be glad to
try to help....
