Default True Type Fonts vs. Flash Text vs. Linking? - 08-03-2003 , 11:41 AM

People,

For design purposes, I needed a certain font for my web pages. Since it
wasn't one of the 11 "True Type Fonts" (the system of which I could never
understand; & which is a pet peeve of mine, but also a topic probably best
left for another day), I used Flash Text (inside of Layers.) I also used a
different Rollover color.

They looked fine.

I then needed that created text to be used as a link, so I highlighted the
text & went back into the "Insert Flash Text" editor & created the link (to
another page in my site.)

Now, I've noticed two disturbing things:

1) When I preview the site in my browser (IE 6.0), the Arrow & Hand cursors
flicker back & forth between each other, whereas, I believe, before I
created the link, I had a solid "Hand." The links work, but it looks
weird...like it's not functional.

2) When the links are successfully selected, the Rollover color does not
remain. The links only change color when they're rolled over. I need both
the Flash Text; & I need that text to change color & remain that color when
selected.

Is there a conflict between Flash text & linking, or have I set up the
system incorrectly?

If there is a conflict, how does one design the text they want (for the look
they want) & create a link with before & after colors?

Should I go back to True Type fonts? Should I embed the fonts? How does it
work?

Thanks very much,

mark4man
