Default Trouble with Rollover Images on host server - 08-20-2004 , 03:40 PM

I built an entire site (for the most part) using FIREWORKS MX 2004. I used
DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 to check code, validate, and launch to host server. THe
rollovers created in FIREWORKS work great when using my test server at home
(not testing locally) and the site works for both IE and Safari. When I upload
the site, and click on the rollover image, the click image disappears. I've
checked and double checked all images and as I said... It works great on the
testing server. Is there something I can do in either Fireworks or Dreamweaver
other than preload images?

www.shoesupply.net is the site.

Thanks a bunch....

Ewww. Not usually a good idea.

That said, you have a TON of rollovers on your site (not the best way to
present content) but they all seem to work fine for me. Is there a
pariticular one you are having issues with?

Is there a
pariticular one you are having issues with? No. and there is a ton of
rollovers. It's an experiment in condensing the size of the site and focusing
on the products. If there is a better way... I'd like to know.

You are presenting content as rollovers. View your site in a browser without
images. This is what folks that use screen readers, text browsers, cell
phones, etc. will see. More importantly, this is what Google will see. As
you can tell, there isn't actually much content on the site.

The 'better way' would be to put the pertinent content (product names,
prices, etc.) on the page as text. There's nothing wrong with
scrolling...especially if it means the content is easier to get at.

As for letting Fireworks make your HTML, it does so rather poorly. It always
spits out incredibly bloated markup usually as a mess of tables.

Again, though, I don't see any broken rollovers, so I can't be of much
assistance there.
