transparant background

Hi i m using a lot of transparant background, using Fireworks and saving as
PNG. However in browser Explorer 6
(and probably other) it wont show transparant. Is there a way to fix this? I
tried saving as a GIF and same problem occurs.

Do a google for PNG transparency fix. I am not sure if there is a
fix(hack) for background images, but normal images I am sure there are a
couple of different methods.

I am trying to think the necessity of using a transparent image as a
background. What exactly is going behind the page background that you need to
show through?

You could create the same effect with a solid image, sure you end up with the
extra image, but that is no big deal.
