Default Transfer template - 07-08-2004 , 03:04 PM

How do I transfer a template and all the bits that make it up to another
site folder?
Is there an easy way or is it the old transfer one bit at a time.

to the good people of the forumn, cheers to all that answer.

Click on the Assets Tab. Select the Template icon, and then select the
desired Template file. Right click it. From the context menu, select Copy
to Site, and then select the site. As far as I can tell, this will only
copy the file itself, not any of its dependent files.

Shouldn't it be an easy task to copy templates, especially if need to use
for several sites??

Yes. But you would have to manually copy the template's dependent files
(images, externally linked js/css, includes, etc.). And the sites must have
identical folder structure as well.

I have never felt a need to do this, but it should work.

So am I better off building a new template for another site even though the
layout etc is the same?
obviously different logos and stuff

It's entirely up to you. I frequently copy CSS files from one site to
another, and most of my sites have the same folder structure. Since much
(most?) of my layout information is in the CSS file, anyhow, then recreating
the template is a simple matter.
