Default thanks for help on css roll-over and 1 question - 05-25-2004 , 09:26 PM

I have posted a few question here over the last year and i have to say the help
I have recieved has been really really great.

I managed to find the CSS code which I pasted in and have now remade my first
page so all links now roll-over and contain no graphics! Great!

here it is

www.waddo.net

However, I do still have one problem. Other index pages feature pop-up foot
notes (side notes!) which I made in Fireworks.

an example:

http://www.waddo.net/Indexpages/index_short_stuff.html

I would really like to keep the page looking and working in this way, but
since I used fireworks then I guess the whole thing must be images again. Is
there some work around to keep the look and not use gifs? Or use fewer gifs? I
would like the page to be as near gif free as possible.

Thanks again for previous help and comments!

Keith

What about using show/hide layer behaviour to show onMouseover of your
text.

Default thanks Nadia but how? (scratches head) - 05-26-2004 , 12:51 AM

as you have probably guessed I am far from expert in this!

Your idea seems to be good, but I cannot get it to work. This is what I tried.
1. in Dreamweaver made a new blank page.
2. typed the word "link"
3. drew a small layer over to one side big enough for some text and typed the
word "text" in it.
4. (I think this is where i go wrong: do I select the new layer or the "body"
or the word "link"--I tried all!) In evernts I choose show hide layers and then
show.
Nothing works! I can make the layer hide when I point at the "link" but not
show!!!

hope you or some one can understand what I am doing (wrong).

Thanks

keith

Huh? If I tell my browser to display the ALT attribute instead of
images, I see a COMPLETELY blank page. There is not a single character
of text on the page.

Are you sure you are looking at my page??? The first one?

www.waddo.net

I think I have my second question figured out, but why can't you see any
text????? I have checked the page on IE 5.1 (mac) as well as netscape 4 and 6.
The text always appears. So far I have only modified the first index page, but
before i convert the rest of my site I would like to know if there is some
problem..thanks

Keith -see below:

1. in Dreamweaver made a new blank page.

Link needs a 'link' attached to it so that you can apply the show/hide
behaviour to it. Use a null like like so:
"javascript:;" (without the quote marks). You then highlight the word LINK
and then go to the behaviour panel to do the show/hide. Try using
(onMouseover), so that when they mouseover the word link, the layer
shows....

Hope this is clearer

i managed to get everything working so I can now remove all the roll-over links
from all my index pages. But one person said my main page, which is the only
one I have so far converted so far, show NO TEXT and only graphics. IS THIS
TRUE???? I have treid it on three browsers and it looks fine to me.

Thanks again to one and all

No - the text is there now - I think Gary may have still been looking at the
original or a cached version.
