Template of a Template? -

Hello all,
I use Dreamweaver 4, and I was curious about something. Is there a way
to have a template of a template? To explain, I have three areas of my
site: programming, digital graphics, and everything else. The programming
and digital graphics pages have a modified design of the original template
with just an added header, code, and such. As of this point in time, I have
three templates for my web site. One as the main template, one for
programming, and one for digital graphics. If I ever modify anything on the
main template, I have to modify both the programming and digital graphics
templates as well in order for everything to look uniform. Is there a way
to make the programming and digital graphics templates be a "template of a
template" so that whenever I would modify something on the main template
(something that is not one of the specific components of the other
templates) it would modify both the programming and digital graphics
templates? They would act as a file under the main template, but would be
templates in themselves.
Does this make any sense, or am I just saying "template" and "programming
and digital graphics" too much? ;-)
TIA,
