Default Template Problems - 10-07-2005 , 11:59 AM

I am pretty new to templates in general, but I've managed to apply one to all
my pages. I have a templates folder wherein the template is saved. Now, however
when I save changes to that template, it only updates files in the directory
one folder above it, ie, website > template folder , only the "website" folder
gets updated, not it's other folders of html docs that use the template. The
only way I can get it to save changes that I make is to have the specific file
open when i have the template file open as well and save the changes then. ie,
because product.htm is in a different folder, it will only show template
changes if i have it open when i save those template changes. I've checked and
the template is the same template across the site, ie all the pages do use the
same template file. I do work directly on the ftp server connection, is this my
problem? However, when I tried working offline and then uploading the pages and
information, it removed all the files on my computer and put them onto the ftp
server. is that normal? I would appreciate some insight here, i'm pulling my
hair out practically trying to figure out what's going on. thanks!

Yes. Templates only update your local copy of the files based on the
template. Templates have no function on the server.

No. That's not normal and I've never heard anyone else say they have
experienced anything like it. Can you give step by step instructions on
how someone can duplicate it?
