Default tables sharing violation invista - 02-19-2007 , 07:10 PM

I have just tried dreamweaver mx on my new laptop (running Vista).
In design mode the insert tables function brings up a sharing violation and
then ceases to work until I reinstall dreamweaver.
Then as soon as I try to insert a table it happens again.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can sort this?

It appears from other posts on this forum that some folks are not able
to run Dreamweaver on Vista, and MX is pretty old now. You might want
to go back to running on XP or whatever you were using before until you
can upgrade to DW9. In the meantime, have a look out for posts from
David Alcala, who works for Adobe and has been attempting to assist
folks with various problem issues.

I am having the EXACT same problem. I had the problem in the beta
version of vista, and now again with vista business edition. It
happens on any vista machine I install dreamweaver on... and it
appears to be the ONLY feature of dreamweaver that doesn't work right
on vista. I have searched and searched as much as I can, but have been
unable to find an answer.

Somewhere on here somebody from adobe recommended upgrading to 6.1...
(A simple patch you can get from adobe.com), which I did, but didn't
make a difference.

The table problem happens whether you are logged in as the local
admin, any other admin account, or poweruser account.

And recommending downgrading back to XP, or buying the next version of
dreamweaver, isn't exactly an acceptable answer.

- Hopefully somebody from the dreamweaver team can chime in and give
us a fix?

Willie,

I posted what I think is a very good workaround for inserting tables. I was
having the same problem as you. Here is the thread to an original post by

The problems with Insert Table on vista seem to originate in saving the
settings,
of you copy the files Table.htm and Table.js from "C:\Program
Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\Objects\Common" to
"C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Dreamweav er
MX\Configuration\Objects\Common"

the open the Table.js and chenge the line that reads
saveExtension(document);
into
// saveExtension(document);

the table settings will no longer be saved, but at least you get to insert a
table.

Has there ever been a true permanent fix for this problem? Or just the .js
work around? I am deployed over in the desert and have this exact same
problem. I am using MX for a college class and do not have a way to get any
other version of Dreamweaver at the moment. So I really need to get this
fixed. Thanks in advance for any help.

In case newsgroup users are wondering, he is refering to a thread last
posted to in Oct, 2007[1].

Lazarus, I don't know if this update addressed that specific issue with
tables, but I do remember thinking of it at the time as, pretty much, a
mandatory update (DWMX 6.0 to 6.1). If you don't have 6.1 yet, get it
here:

http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/downloads_updaters.html#dwmx

If applicable, get Dreamweaver MX extension fix for .NET framework
version 1.1 linked at the bottom of that page.

More information:
http://www.adobe.com/go/dwmx_updater_technote/
http://www.adobe.com/go/dwmx_updater_rn/

You can check for updates to all Adobe (and former MacroMedia) products
by using the "Get Updates" link found on the product support pages.

http://www.adobe.com/support/<product name>/
ie:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/

Or by selecting a product from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

Not that it matters much, but what are you using, Mark?
