Default Table Layout Question - 07-14-2004 , 06:33 PM

Hello,

I am working on a site redesign and I know I would like a fluid three column
design and I know I want to use tables to do it. I have my design pretty
much done but have a question I am hoping someone or several someone's could
shed some light on.

I am using tables because I want to use images to create fancy edged boxes.
This is not a problem to do and I have designed them so that they grow with
the amount of content and not fall apart. However, as I arrange them on my
page some boxes will have more information in them than others and when this
happens it throws off the boxes next it. So basically you end up with a lot
of white gaps in the page that don't look all that good.

Now I know how I could fix this, but the type of layout of the boxes this
limits me too is not a layout that I like. I have also considered using
layers to hold the tables, but at this stage I don't want the hassle or
learning curve involved to do such a design.

How do people deal with these gaps? If I could use table heights I could
then just have it fill in the gap area, but even when using CSS for this
there is no guarantee it will work. Unfortunately, I don't have a page I can
post to show right now or I would.

Thanks for any insights you all may have.

Robert

Good tutorial, but no where near what I am doing and it doesn't help with my
initial question. However, thanks for the link I bookmarked it as I have a
site coming up that that will be perfect for. I guess I am going to have to
get a sample page posted.

Robert,

Anyway you can post a link to a page - bit difficult to see exactly what you
mean by your post
