Default Table gaps - 07-02-2004 , 04:17 AM

Should I use tables they seem to be a bit of a pain.
I layout my banner table 100% and a table underneath on the left 30% but if
I autostretch the banner table on the right,
I get a spacer placed at the bottom of this table and it creates a gap
between the banner table and the table underneath.
Please don't ask for code, I was so p-----ed off that I have deleted it and
will start again.
Any ideas?
Cheers

So instead of drawing out separate tables for each part of my site, are you
saying draw 1 big one
with the correct number of cells.
I want to make a template for the whole site so by placing 1 big table with
smaller cells inside would this allow me to have editable
regions?
Cheers

Hard to understand what's happening with that description, but it sounds
as if you haven't placed the various elements inside a table cell each.
Crate a parent table with as many rows as you have elements. Put one
element in each row.

No, not really:

You should consider *nested* tables: a parent table that holds it all
together. But then you can have other tables inside that parent tabel's
different rows or columns. But avoid splitting any table inso *both*
rows and columns since you will get tags that are called "rowspan"
and/or "colspan". These will cause problems in 9 cases out of 10.

See the table tutorial in my sig.

Before I look at your link.
Are you saying have a table (1 cell) e.g 800 x 600 and then place 1 table
for each element inside?
Cheers

You would write a class or id for these tds and apply the class or id to
them.

Have a look at these table / background tutorials
