Default Switching to Mac! Any problems with development?? - 11-01-2004 , 12:21 PM

Ok, Not sure whether this is the right forum, but here goes: I am definately
making the switch to Mac this month. I'm moving to Australia and my PC is
taking 3 months to get there so I'm getting a second machine, and thought Mac
would be cool. ANy known web development issues in general that I should be
aware of before i make the plunge. Cheers Matt

Nope. Everything works the same in a Mac. The only difference is you don't
have to set up a test environment by trying to figure out how to install
everything. Apache with PHP is already installed on your machine and mysql.com
has a package to install mySQL which could make your life a hell of a lot
easier for testing. And good luck with the mac, believe me once you use it for
design, you will realize that the only purpose for a PC is to play games,
because that's what it does best.

Going to put my PC to shame.

Well, doing any MS-technology web dev is hard to do on a Mac. So if you are
doing any .net work, for instance, you'd want to stick with Windows.

Otherwise, shouldn't be any problems at all.

Ultimately, though, I find it's best to have both a PC and a Mac on your
desk.
