Of Course.
You might have noticed that I started this thread and as stated, I made on and
off-site backups of my trial editions that I would be happy to throw up on my
server for 24/7 availability to anyone in this situation.

It's worth mentioning that rather than attempting to extort a CS-4 (3 in my
case) purchase from their customers they could alleviate this issue by
providing customers in this situation with downloads to their prior purchases.
All adobe is doing is encouraging paying customers to go for the bit-torrent
solution, where, they will no doubt come across a brand spankin' new "cracked"
CS-4 suite. I certainly could have when I was needing this but all I wanted was
my OWN product back.

I'm just sayin'

Michael

When I go to adobe.com and select "Your Account" and login with one
of my former Macromedia IDs, I can click on "Order History". On that
page, I see many orders, only one of which was ordered as a
Download, but it is linked to a page with several download links (it
was Studio MX 2004 with Flash Pro Upgrade). It is the same page as
accessed when clicking "Your Downloads" after logging in.

If I login with one of my Adobe accounts, I only see one item in my
Order History, but it was a boxed version. That is
surprising, since I've ordered many different individual programs
and bundles and upgrades over the years, but...

I do not recall whether I went through any special steps back when
Adobe took over the MM accounts/servers, but I would /think/ there
is some way for Adobe to locate your former MM download links.

If, on the phone, you are speaking with out-sourced, phone script
level support, you may need to try your best to escalate the issue
up the chain. It could take a while.

Good luck.

Mark,
Not to beat a dead horse but I purchased a boxed version. I never had to do
anything to change my account when adobe bought MM. I am using the same log-in
now as when it was MM. All I'm saying is that I cannot believe that adobe
"purged" all instances of studio8 from their servers when the next version was
released. They have it. We all know they have it. And they wouldn't give me
access to it after my loss. Short sighted on their part as I have not
purchased anything from them since and nave no plans to do so.
As for the phone script outsourced support. I asked to move "up the ladder"
and was told someone would email me. It's been almost a year now and I'm still
waiting for that email.

Alain St-Pierre generously helped me solve my problem and I'm offering to pay
it forward---legally--. All I have a TRIAL version of Studio 8. Got a serial
number? It's yours.

Michael

Ah, gotcha. And I agree that they *should* be able to supply you/us
with a solution after providing all the credentials & proofs of
purchase.

Understood. And, IMO, no different than obtaining it from an older book
or the "Showcase CD" MM used to include in boxed versions. I can't
speak for its legality[1], but *I, personally,* am comfortable with the
morality aspect in this context.

[1] I haven't read the EULA, if it exists, on the mentioned
distributions.
