Default Stop auto-opening CSS file when editing from panel - 11-02-2005 , 07:27 PM

I'm using Dreamweaver 8. I previously used MX 2004 and don't recall having this
issue.

Whenever I use the right-hand-side CSS Panel Group to edit a style (usually by
right-clicking the style name and choosing "Edit..."), Dreamweaver
automatically opens the relevant CSS file in the background.

This has been problematic for me because my Dreamweaver 8 periodically crashes
(a different issue), which means that any style's I've edited aren't saved -
because Dreamweaver has opened the CSS file in the background without
auto-saving it after each change.

Does anyone know how to either:

1. Set Dreamweaver to auto-save any open files, or,
2. Stop Dreamweaver from auto-opening my CSS file, when I edit a style from
the CSS Panel Group

Any help would me much appreciated. This issue has twice set me back by up to
two hours, because I initially hadn't realised why my CSS changes were lost
each time DW crashed.

Found the solution (simple really!)...

Edit > Preferences... > CSS Styles > uncheck "Open CSS file when modified".

I am sure you are saving often since dreamweaver is crashing on you. Instead of
just click the save icon click the save all icon next to it... this will save
all open documents. I don't know about autosave... how do you like version 8? I
haven't upgraded yet but I'm excited to see the new hotness.
