Default Specific Sized Window - 06-28-2004 , 06:28 PM

I'm building a site that needs to have some images open up in different
browser window, but the new windows need to open up at a smaller size. I
tried it with the "open browser window" behavior, but was unable to get it
to open "on click" (only onload and onerror available)

Here is the URL:
http://www.systematicmachinery.com/systematicbetasite/standardbss.htm

It is for the links to the images on the right side of the page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tim

Check out the Open Picture Window Fever extension at
www.dreamweaverfever.com/grow/ or the Just So Picture Window extension at
www.valleywebdesigns.com/vwd_dw_JSPW.asp. They'll both do a great job of
what you want to do, including automatically hugging the image without your
having to specify the size.

Ok, and now that I downloaded the Open Picture Window fever, how do I use
it. (I've not used extensions yet...)

Thanks
Tim

When applying the behaviour, make sure you have the link selected. Best
way to do this is click on the text with your cursor, and then select
the <a> in the breadcrumb list between the main view and Properties
panel (assuming default layout).

very easy.
replace the links of your thumbanils, in the link box in propereties
panel, with

javacsript:;

Then in behavior panel select open browser window, and set the
properties of the popup windows.
When done, look at your behavior panel, where the behavior is listed,
and make sure that the behavior action is set on onClick and not onLoad.

The trick is that sometimes in order to see this behavior or to apply it
properly in design view, selecting your thumbnail is not enough, you
also need to select the link of your thumbnail. To do that, select your
thumbnail and then select <a> from the tag structure list at the bottom
left of the design view window.

What those other guys said, except what you should put in the link box of
the Property Inspector is: javascript:;

the word "javascript" followed by a colon and semicolon.

Arrrgh ... what is that?

span class="subhead">&bull; </span>For installation, [...]<br

/blockquote

First: Don't (ab)use the blockquote-element for indenting.
Second: A list is what you need, the above is _no_ list.

Try it this way:

<p>This machine is the perfect [...]</p>
<ul>
<li>Installs over the top [...]</li>
<li>For installation, [...]</li>
</ul>

Additionally think of using alt-attributes for images. This is how it
looks in Lynx ...

I don't use it for normal surfing, only for testing. If a website
doesn't work in Lynx then it will most likely also cause problems in
other browsers or for search engines. Best examples are missing alt-
attributes, improper markup, Flash or Javascript without alternatives.
With a textbrowser you get the fastest feedback.

And it gives you a better idea of how screenreaders like Jaws will parse
the information for those that are blind. Can't forget 508
accessibility now.
