Default special character code for em dash - 10-07-2005 , 01:58 PM

Why is the code for an em dash in Dreamweaver Studio 8 — yet I've always used —?

According to the info I have, — is part of a mutated range of
Windows-1252 characters (‚ - Ÿ). It says that they are still
universally supported by browsers, but w3.org standards and Unicade have
different plans for those codes, and that most browsers support the 4-digit
alternatives.

Best regards,
Chris

Because 8212 is correct?

From http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/sgml/entities.html:

<!ENTITY mdash CDATA "—" -- em dash, U+2014 ISOpub -->
