Default slice-up images for roll-over?? - 07-10-2004 , 10:36 PM

How do I go about putting an image on a page (say, a picture of myself) and
then make it so that when the mouse rolls over a certain section of the image
(say, my feet), the image changes (i.e. gets bigger, adds color, etc.)?

THANKS!

Hello, all this is done in javascript, and what you are doing, you could
probably do in DW w/o javascript knowledge.

Im not sure if you meant, the cursor rolls over his feet, and his feet change?
Or the whole picture changes...
If its just his feet, you can go into Insert > Interactive Images > Rollover
Image
From there it's quite easy to follow.

If you meant the whole image changes, i dont know how to do it. Hopefully
someone else can post a solution.

Open the picture in Fireworks, add a second frame to the document
window, then copy the photo to the second frame. Return to the first
frame and draw slices over it. YOu can add the rollover behaviors in
Fireworks and then import the whole shebang into your Dreamweaver page,
or export the image slices only, and build the rollovers with the image
slices in Dreamweaver.

I do not have fireworks on my computer. I have adobe photoshop... I'm a
beginner to all of this. If I select insert-->image rollover, I just insert a
whole picture that will change upon rollover, not a picture with PARTS that
will change upon rollover.

It makes sense that I'd have to edit the picture (i.e. slice it up) in another
application, but all I have is photoshop and I don't know how to do it in
photoshop. Help??

does the version of ps you have include ImageReady?
then make the rollover in that, exporting html and images.

then either follow the directions in the html comments or imageready
instructions on how to hand-paste the code, or go here:
http://lynda.com/files/ and get the Import Imageready extension for
dreamweaver to Insert-->ImageReady html into your document.
