Default Sitewide constants / variables - 06-18-2008 , 10:39 AM

Can I somehow define constants like

SiteName = "Company XYZ"

and then put in page titles expressions like

SiteName + " - Welcome"

- or -

SiteName + " - Pricelist"

etc? It seems strange to me that such a mighty tool like Dreamweaver would
force designers to change maybe hundreds of page names manually when the
company name changes...

You can do that on the site via server side scripting.

You can use templates for that.

But, probably easier, just search for "Old Company Name" and replace with
"New Company name"

In other words, Dreamweaver does not have this functionality.

Literally what you want? No. That's not something an HTML editor would do.

But you can 'fake' it with templates.

Or, on the server, you could use a server side include.

Or use real variables via some server side scripting languag like PHP.

HTML (not DW) has no such capability.

But, honestly, why waste the space in your title? Repeating your site name
is not optimum use of that valuable real estate.

But it is helpful to folks that like to bookmark the page. Though I concede
that their needs are usually trumped by SEO these days.
