Re: DW MX 2004 on Mac OS X 10.3.4 I just launched DW MX 2004 (update) and all of my site definitions are gone. No, I did not export them manually, so I cannot import them that way. I have a full backup of my hard drive, so is there a file or files somewhere that I can replace from my backup that will restore the site defs???? Hey Macromedia - this data should automatically be backed up by the program itself. |

I sincerely appreciate your response, but I suspect you are referring to the Windows version. I'm looking for info specific to where this data is stored in OS X. thnx |

THANK YOU SONJAY!! And FYI, there is no "registry" in the Mac version. That's a PC thing. Here's another possible solution I stumbled upon that might work cross-platform. Since I still had my old version of DW MX (not 2004), I was able to launch the old version and export my most critical site definitions from there, then launch MX 2004 and import. |

Glad I could help, Rich. Having those defs in a separate text file makes so much more sense than burying them in the registry, the way it's done on the PC side. When I was using DW on the PC, I used to lose my site defs at least once a month, and I got paranoid about backing them up regularly, which on a PC is a PITA because you have to use a special third-party program to grab them from the registry if you want to do them all at once. On the Mac side, your regular old garden-variety daily backups, however you perform them, will backup your site defs, so long as you include your Library folder in your backup routine. On the other hand, since I've been using DW2004 on my Mac, and don't have to worry about backing up my site defs separately, I haven't lost them even once. I guess text files are less corruptible than the registry. ![]() -- Sonjay On 7/15/04 1:51 PM, in article cd6g6s$q6t$1 (AT) forums (DOT) macromedia.com, "richonmaui" <webforumsuser (AT) macromedia (DOT) com> wrote: Originally posted by: Newsgroup User If you have a full backup of your hard drive, you should be in luck. Now it will happen to you twice. I know at least two Mac users who have lost them.... |

And so what if it does....? I do regular backups, and I can just pull my Site Prefs from yesterday's backup, like Rich just did. Actually, it would make me smile and feel tingly all over because of the ease of restoring them, compared to what I went through on the PC. Life's weird when something like losing your site defs can make you smile. ![]() -- Sonjay On 7/15/04 2:47 PM, in article cd6jft$10p$1 (AT) forums (DOT) macromedia.com, "Murray *TMM*" <forums (AT) HAHAgreat-web-sights (DOT) com> wrote: Now it will happen to you twice.
