Default Site Definitions bug - 05-10-2004 , 02:19 AM

Has anyone else experienced the bug with the list of sites in DWMX 7.0.1?

I have a list of about 20 sites that I regularly need to work on but DW is
constantly duplicating some and removing others. Some sites can be
duplicated three or four times - it's incredibly annoying.

When I say 'duplicate', I don't mean as in Copy Of..., as you can actually
do under 'Manage Sites'. These are straightforward copies.

Is there a known fix to this?

Thanks.

Hi David

It is a known bug that Macromedia ar working on. Do you have any
repoducible steps? It seems pretty random to me though when it happens
it seems to happen on sites whose name is defined with a leading
underscore i.e. _mysite do you have sites defined like that?

Hi Jojo

Thanks for the feedback. Though annoying, it's comforting to know that this
is a known bug and I'm not the only one suffering!
Each time I notice this has happened, I try and find a reason for it - so
far without success. I don't routinely name my sites with an underscore
prefix, so I think that must be a red herring (or, at least, not the *only*
reason).
I'll sit tight and wait for MM to come up with a fix and in the meantime
will keep exporting those definitions whenever I create them.

Thanks again.

David

What is the difference between "Copy of" and "straightforward copies"? Or
do you mean that you just see the same site name appearing several times?

Hi Murray

The site name, and obviously only the site name is duplicated 2,3,4 or 5
times. It's not a problem really, you just delete the extra definitions
and your good to go. Initially DW complains the page you open is
situated in multiple sites, it beats the heck out of losing the site
defs, gimme multiples to none every time

I am having the same problem. Not sure if this helps but it only
started happening after I uninstalled my version of MX (because I had
both MX & 2004 installed at the same time). Since then 2004 has been
doing deleting some site and duplication others. All my site are
wwww.mysite.com.au so again no link with the _underscore.

Had same problem. DW got the number of Sites wrong while writing to the registry
on closing. Seems to misinterpret special Characters. I had Site-Names like:

My Site 5
_testing
Test-Client

Solution: changed all Site-Names to pattern:

mysitefive
testing
testclient

No more dups, no more losses. Happy now.
