Default show/hide layers in templates - 08-04-2004 , 03:41 PM

I created a template that has multiple show/hide layers ontop of eachother.
When I go to create a new page from the template there is no good way to choose
one layer at a time and near impossible to add ne information to those layers.
Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

Ok bliond leading blind here but....
On the template there are some little yellow C's in the top left, click on one of them and one of the layers is then highlighted. Is that helpful?

It's simple. Open the Layer panel, click on a layer's name, and there it is
on the Design view.

Top menu?

These layers are all listed explicitly in the layers panel.

Frankly, your layout plan sounds awkward though. What are you trying to
accomplish?

Well, there are going to be about 14 layers ontop of eachother each with
three
nested layers (this is a three generation pedigree). Even if I go to the
top
menu and pull it down by name it still gets lost in the mess of layers.
It is
easy on the original pages since I can just hide the layers I am not
using.
Help?

When I create a page from my template there is no layers panel - otherwise I
could just select one and hide the others. I am making a pedigree that shows
pictures and information about each member when you roll over the name.

Sure there is a Layers panel (WINDOW | Layers {F2}). But I suppose what you
might mean is that since the layers are in a non-editable region of the
Template, they do not appear in the panel?

OK, I must have done something wrong when I created the template because when I
try to create the new page the layers themselves (the ones that should
show/hide) are editable but they do not show up on my layers panel (in fact
nothing shows up on my layers panel). So do I need to create a backround layer
or???

Show me the code on the template page, please.
