Default show-hide layer on Mac - Safari - 08-02-2004 , 11:04 AM

Okey, I will ask once more, maybe (hope) this time someone knows about Mac
and it's Safari.
Why the behavior show/hide layer doesn't work here? It works in mac
Explorer, in Pc NS, IE and Opera
but safari can't understand it.

here is the url:
www.mansurshon.com

many thanks,

Have you tried the obvious, unesting the layers? That may be the cause.

You have a number of onClicks applied to those thumbnail images. Im
wondering if everything combined is just too much for Safari to handle
and its choking.

I think also you need to use <A> onClick rather than just onClick to
show the layer. However when I tried it made no differnce.

Me thinks there is a lot wrong with the way you have set this up because
I get pop up window errors in Mozilla and IE too.

Actually, I have done it - otherwise I could get a big problem with
snapLayer behavior! There are lots of layers on the pages, e.g. 29 layers on
the page gallery paintings- 58 times snapLayer behavior on the same page is
unimaginabel for me.

Maybe there is somewhere a browsercheck behavior for mac browsers?
and thanks for reply,

which version of IE? We are using IE6 and every thing works pretty good, no
erros at all. Now I am getting really crazy. Mac Explorer dosen't show the
exact location of the layers and Safari doesn't show layers and our target
audience are artists, this means mostly mac user! I am ready to change eery
thing but how? Do you have any idea?
and thanks again!

I can imagine it to be a nightmare thats why I wouldnt build pages like
that. I tend to build simple constructions that wont present problems
cross-browser.

I think what you will have to do is build a test page with say 4 nested
layers plus the scroller, add the behaviours to the images and keep
testing after each process. See exactly where it breaks down.

I dont think there is and if there was Im pretty sure it wouldnt help
solve the problem.

Unfortunately I think the only way forward is to get under the bonnet
and do some digging around.

Im using Mac IE5.2 and Mozilla 1.4.

When I click onto the scrolling thumnails in those browsers the larger
image to the right swaps, as it should. However I also get a pop-up
window with some strange icon inside it which says error.

The window is about 150px x 200px. The icon it shows is a graphic,
inode: wir verbinden. I think thats just part of the page I cant see
what else it says as the window is not re-sizable. The title of the
window is ERROR 404.
