Default Shifting Site - 07-10-2004 , 10:16 PM

Guys I need some help with Shifting Elements within my site. Every time I redo
my site I almost always get shifting happening. I use a template for all the
stuff I do as I was told this is the best way to make the site uniform across
the entire site, but when I preview in both Netscape and IE6 the site shifts,
but the shifting happens mainly to the nav buttons and some of the images on
the site.

To give you an example, I have links for the nav, which are TEXT only; there
are 6 links that run just under the main banner for my site. When I click on
the first link it all stays where it should but when I click on the about link
which is the second link on the nav table the links all move to the right about
5 pixels and when I click on the 3rd link which is history it moves to the
right again another 5 pixels, so by the time I click on the last 3 links the
whole nave button has moved about 25-30 pixels from its original place and is
centered by the time you click on all the links in the site.

Is there a way that I can stop this from happening as it really is starting to
get on my nerves and it?s driving me crazy.

Upload it somewhere and post a URL so people can see the code.

Such motion is caused by the code on the page and the way it interacts with
the content on the page, and even what browser you are using. For example,
Netscape will want to move your content to place a vertical scrollbar.
Internet Explorer will not do this. Perhaps this is what you are seeing as
motion - the placement of the vertical scrollbar.

At any rate - a look at the pages and their code is the best way to get an
answer, as Gary suggests.
