Default Several Dumb Questions - 06-03-2008 , 11:22 AM

OK...I've always had problems with the following. I'm completely self-taught so
please bear with the questions if they are idiotic:

1) Most of what I do is posting thumbnails and full-size photos to our group
website. Is there a way for me to copy all of my pertinent photos up to a
directory first and then work with them, or do I need to point to the local
copy while I am designing and the say "yes" when DW tells me "the file is not
located on the server and do I want to copy it now"?

2) This one drives me nuts. I have always had a new browser window open to
display a full-sized picture when a thumbnail is clicked. I understand the
theory behind setting this up - I open the behavior tab and add "On Click" >
"Open New Browser Window". Now - it's been a while - do I point the "Open New
Browser Window" action to the full size photo (how?) or do I need to do it
another way?

3) Last one...Most of my photo pages has tables formatted into 3-5 columns and
maybe 3 or 4 rows deep. If I have a large number of photos and need to double
my table size - what's the easiest way to just duplicate the existing one? Any
time I copy paste - it ends up being a different size and things don't line up.

Sorry for the noob questions...and I appreciate any help/advice you may be
able to offer.

You could do this first as a batch upload of images. Then when you just
upload the page containing links to the images, you will not need to worry
about the prompt.

You could do it that way, yes. Make sure you apply that behavior to an
ANCHOR tag surrounding the image, NOT TO THE IMAGE ITSELF.

Or, you could get something wonderful like DIVAPop from
http://www.divahtml.com, and let that extension do the heavy lifting.

Why not just add rows as needed? With the cursor in the bottom row
rightmost cell, just press TAB to get another row.

Thanks for the quick feedback Ace...

How do you do a batch upload of images? Is that in the menu somewhere?

I'm still a little unclear as far as the "Open New Browser" setup...but I'll
play with it a bit and see what I can come up with. In the past, I believe I
selected the thumbnail (so it's highlighted), add the behavior and then somehow
got a "browse" window to open where I then navigated to the full-size photo and
clicked "ok". That file would then be copied to the server and that's how I
proceeded moving forward. When you say apply the action to an "Anchor Tag
surrounding the image" - do you mean an anchor tag around the THUMBNAIL or the
FULL-SIZE photo?

I was messing with some new photos last night and couldn't get it to work for
the life of me...I quit after 45 minutes or so to avoid getting too frustrated.

Thanks again for the quick feedback...and thanks for not laughing at me (at
least not publicly).

Select the images in the Files panel, and click on the PUT icon.

The thumbnail. Since the full-sized image is not on the page, you would
have a hard time wrapping it with an anchor tag!

You're welcome. Your questions were simply new user questions, not
laughable! 8)

This is where some knowledge of HTML is worth its weight in gold.

Much appreciated...I'll give those a try.

I'll also pick up a book on HTML...makes sense to understand the underpinnings at least on a basic level.
