Default Secure FTP? - 12-01-2005 , 10:09 AM

Is there any way to configure secure ftp in Dreamweaver?
My servers support it, secure ftp works with CuteFTP but not with Dreamweaver.
I read the help section which says nothing more than "check the box" but checking the box and trying secure ftp doesn't work.

Thanks!
Martye

Dreamweaver MX 2004 and higher support SFTP out of the box. v6.x and below
do not. Which version are you using?

Best regards,
Chris

(sorry, I forgot that little detail) Dreamweaver 8

What I'm asking is there anyplace within Dreamweaver to actually "configure"
secure ftp.
Checking the box isn't working, so I'm assuming that something needs to be
changed in the ftp configuration so that it works.

Thanks!

Shouldn't need to really configure anything. In your site definition, when
you set up your host, home directories, etc., selecting the "User Secure
FTP" checkbox should switch the communications protocol from FTP to SFTP.
Shouldn't take much more than that, really.

Best regards,
Chris

My point is that it MUST require some configuration because it doesn't work In Dreamweaver and it does with CuteFTP where I have the protocol type configured to "FTP with TLS/SSL (Auth TLS - Explicit)" Same server.

Don't know what to tell you. It really doesn't... Sorry...

FTP over SSL (what it appears you're using) is different than SFTP (FTP over
SSH). Doesn't sound like your host is using SFTP.
