Default Search Engine Recogition - 05-11-2006 , 07:50 AM

What is the best way to get a website recognised by the major search engines.
The meta tags and keywords I currently have in my website are not providing a
listing within google, despire manually adding the website. Any help would be
very much appreciated.

Keywords are generally ignored.

If you provided Google with as much information as you gave us, it's not
surprising you aren't listed! <g>

What is the URL?

Regards,

Pete.

Post a link to your site for the very best suggestions. In this day and
age, keyword meta tags are ignored by search engines, so they will have no
effect on your ranking. The things that are important are -

* title tag
* paragraph headers (<h#> tags)
* flow of content
* content of content
* filenames
* page derived keyword density
* incoming links
* phase of the moon

It's not as simple as it used to be....

When enterring the company name into the search engine the website is displayed
as the second in the list. However, when I enter keywords that appear within my
pages the page does not rank at all. I have submitted the website through the
Google - Add URL option. I have produced a google sitemap and hosted this
within the directory of my website. I have no links to other websites, would
including these increase the possibility that I might get noticed?

Good copywriting.

Good, semantic HTML markup.
