Default Trial Downloads - Hello, It's July 1st - 06-30-2008 , 12:56 PM

As per the topic summary, I am interested in a trial download of both
Dreamweaver and Flash CS3 but have not been able to download one for the better
part of the last 45 days. What is the deal and how much longer can I expect
this to drag out?

Apologies in advance if this has already been discussed here ad nauseum. I'm
new to this forum and probably won't be back here much except to see if this
topic generated any meaningful responses.

As a side note, I've been a loyal Macromedia (and now Adobe) product user over
the years but recently let my licenses slide and now I am in dire need of an
upgrade, both at home and at my new place of employment. Given cost concerns
within my company and the fact that I will require full licenses for any Adobe
software purchases there, I thought I would be doing my due dilligence in
downloading and using the trial versions of some of the Adobe Web bundle
products, as well as some of the comparable Microsoft titles.

Since Microsoft hasn't left me hanging by a thread and I was able to download
and make use of their WYSIWYG editor Expression Web, I've found that the
Expression HTML/WYSIWYG editor is quite robust.

Maybe I'll just end up purchasing that instead. At least I am able to test it
out for a month or two before I decide to purchase it.

Was there a question buried in there somewhere?

Yeah, I just realized that in all my ranting I didn't bother to double check the calendar.

Sorry.

Has anyone here attempted to make use of the Adobe provided "Trial Repair Tool"?

I was able to get it to work for a brief period today such that I had
Dreamweaver CS3 unlocked. Then I had to reboot after some Windows Updates and
now the 65 day extension reads that it has expired.

Checking the file properties of the downloaded trial executable, it shows a
last modified date of May 22nd, 2008.

Would it be within the realm of possibility that the whole "30 day" trial
period is set to read from this date and not actually the date which I ran the
executable for the first time? In this case, back during the first week of
June.

Reading the FAQ documentation on this site, for how to apply the Trial Repair
Tool, that would at least make some sense of the fact that my (first 30, then
65, now expired) Dreamweaver trial will not function.

LOL. Now tomorrow, well, that's another story. Should we bookmark this
just in case?

Well it is now 1 July...and in other countries it is July 2...but I am still
having problems trying to access the trial version of Dreamweaver. It keeps
giving me the same old message "Problem with trial. A problem was encountered
while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. Click Quit to
see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes the
problem..."

so I have tried...but no luck...any updates or suggestions...

Still no luck with getting a copy of the DW trial download to install and
function properly.

Yesterday, I uninstalled the previous download I had from May 22nd, but that
never worked for more than a day. I tried the TrialRepairTool.exe file two
days ago and it extended my trial out to 65 days availability, only to promptly
lock up again after rebooting my PC. Crap!

I then completely uninstalled the previous trial version and attempted to
reinstall the newly downloaded trial executable (assuming it is a new file
after July 1st) only to again be met with a "Your trial copy of Dreamweaver has
expired" screen, and what's more, the 65 day progress bar was still present and
completely greyed out.

So I guess that probably means my PC's registry has been handed a big fat
"Denied" stamp by the great Gods of Adobe.

In any case, I'm pretty well stuck until I can figure out a way to get my boss
to pony up for the full version. I had hoped to bridge the gap from my
previous personal copy of MX by way of the trial download. This exercise, as
described in the Trial Download FAQ that was posted on this site up until
yesterday, ended up being a complete waste of about 3-4 hours of my time.

Thanks Adobe :thumbs down:
