Default Rookie With Flash Buttons - 08-05-2004 , 04:09 PM

Hey,
I am making a web-site, and I added some flash buttons. I try to link them to
keep my menu up on the side but i get this error. " The flash object cannot be
created because doucment relative links will not work in all browsers if the
flash movie is not saved to same folder as the html document.
I added the buttons , to all the directories in my web-site amnd io still cant
get it to work. all i wanted is to keep my menu on the left to stay there
whenever they browse my site. Can someone plaease help me.

Thanks

Believe the error message. When I run it through my translator it says -

"Don't use Flash buttons with Dreamweaver!"

Personally... i wouldn't use Flash buttons. Why limit your users to viewing
your site if they don't have the Flash player installed... especially when
navigation is the key to maneuvering a site.

You can accomplish the same thing without Flash.

First off, you can't link Flash with HTML.
Second, search engines can't scan it and they'll only find your home page.
Last but not least, if your viewer doesn't have the Flash plugin and doesn't
want to get it they'll never see your website.
And just in case you still want the Flash buttons (which I hope you don't)...

If you still insist on the buttons make a button in Flash and apply the proper
action script to it.
(If you need help doing this post in flash forums please)
