Rolling (slide show) effect

(Running DreamWeaver MX, and aiming to create a Flash-free site...)

I have a set of photographs which I want to display one at a time in a
section of my html page so that the image displays for around 5 seconds,
then the next one loads. I've experimented with creating a .gif animation
in JASC Animation Shop 3, and this works well, although the file size is
gradually increasing.

Is there a way within DreamWeaver MX to create a slide show (sort of) effect
so that I'm only loading one image at a time, and so keeping the overall
page load short?
