Retrieving Value

Hi all, I don't know if this is the right place but I'll have a try anyway.

I using dreamweaver with an access database and it is very important for me
to retrieving the highest value from an autonumber field. Can this be done?
And can anyone help or at least point me into the right direction?

Kinda solve the problem myself, Instead of doing it in dreamweaver, I
created a query in access which only selected the highest value in the
required field, and then added the new record to dreamweaver.
