Default resizing column - 11-23-2003 , 08:15 PM

Using Dreamweaver 6...

I have a frames page setup where the left frame changes the middle. Works fine but I want the left frame to be wider and I keep changing the column width but it doesn't change it. Am I doing that correct?

<body bgcolor="#9999CC" leftmargin="10" topmargin="40" rightmargin="25" marginwidth="70" title="Left">

Everytime I change marginwidth it won't make that left column bigger.

Go easy please.

Thanks,

Coop

I'm confused. Is the code you post for the frame or for the page in the
frame? It seems to be a hybrid of attributes for both.

The code you posted must have been from one of the frames' pages, not the
frameset. What would be most helpful would be to see the code from the
frameset file.

I guess that is maybe where I am confused...I don't know a whole lot about
frames. The code I posted was taken from the page. I had a left.htm,
middle.htm and top.htm. The left column opens and changes the middle. The
left and top stay the same while the middle change. I am not at that
computer and I will confirm tonight but I am pretty sure I opened up the
left.htm and pasted the code.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I know this doesn't address your question, but it might save you a LOT
of work. If you don't know much about frames, you need to learn that
there are several usability issues with frames that make life
difficult for your users. You may want to read
http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php before you proceed too far
down that road. If you still feel like you MUST use frames, go to
http://www.madcowwwebdesign.com/webmasters/frames/default.asp to learn
how to address some of the issues and to learn more about how frames
work.
